Porcelain veneers

Are you generally unhappy about the way your teeth look? Are they crooked? Discoloured? Different shapes and sizes? Cracked or chipped? Have you always wished you could change your smile?

Improve on the aesthetics and overall look of your smile with veneers.

More and more patients are achieving the smile they have always wanted with dental veneers, gaining results from a subtle natural look to the WOW factor of a Hollywood smile – depending on what would suit them and their lifestyle.

Veneers help improve your smile in many different and exciting ways. They correct minor irregularities in the shape of your teeth, fill in small gaps as well as improving their length. In some cases, it can even give the appearance of straighter teeth. Veneers can make a huge difference to you and your teeth and mean that you just can’t stop yourself from grinning!

In most cases this can all be achieved in just two appointments.

The first step to your new smile

Once you have decided veneers are for you, we would arrange a consultation for you to come and discuss your concerns/dislikes with a dentist. We then give you a detailed treatment plan of your options, as well as showing you some before and after pictures of past cases so you can see for yourself the great results that can be achieved.

During this appointment your LS1 dentist will examine your teeth to make sure dental veneers are appropriate and discuss what the procedure will involve and some of its limitations.

If you would like us to call you to discuss this in more detail please fill out a contact form and the team will be in touch.

Seeing is believing – before and after veneers

Dr Hare had the pleasure of being able to treat a lovely patient and help her achieve her goal of being confident within her smile. Firstly, our patient visited us at the practice for a consultation as she was unhappy with the appearance of her teeth. After a chat with the team, she explained that it was the gap that made her feel self-conscious and always had been. All treatment options were discussed, including pros and cons, fees and before and after pictures of past patient cases were shown.

The patient decided she would like to go ahead with two veneers to reduce the gap and improve the cosmetics of her smile. Take a look at the fantastic results that were achieved – our patient was over the moon with her new smile! So natural but what a difference the veneers made.

What is a dental veneer?

, Porcelain veneers

Veneers are fabricated from thin layers of porcelain. Each veneer is custom-designed and permanently bonded onto the tooth surface. The treatment makes teeth look white, natural and extremely healthy. As each veneer is held in place by a strong bond, very little preparation is required so the process is quick, pain-free and very effective.

The procedure has been likened to false nails being stuck on top of real nails. Once fitted, a veneer should last for many years, but, just like normal teeth, they can be broken or chipped and still require maintenance and care. Guidance will be given by your dental team.

What happens at my veneer appointments?

To prepare a tooth for a veneer, your dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the tooth surface, which is roughly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added. Before trimming off the enamel, you and your dentist will decide on the need for a local anaesthetic to numb the area.

Your dentist will then make a model or impression of your tooth. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, which constructs your veneer. Once the veneers come back from the technician they can be bonded in place. Before the dental veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, your dentist will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine the fit and colour. Once you are both happy the veneers are bonded using a strong cement. Your new smile is then complete!
